NBB pledges BHD2.5 million to combat the COVID-19

Apr 16, 2020

The National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) has just announced a major new initiative to bring relief to Bahrain’s national campaign to combat the coronavirus.

In a brief to the media, the NBB has stated that it is pledging to contribute the entire amount received from the government as part of the national relief package to cover the salaries of Bahraini employees.

All beneficiaries of this scheme will receive their salaries for the coming three months, the bank confirmed.

“It is at times like this that we need to join forces as #TeamBahrain, to lend a helping hand to those impacted the most,” said NBB Chairman Farouk Yousif Almoayyed following the announcement.

He added, “As the nation’s Bank and an integral part of the Bahraini community and the national economy, we see it as our duty to lead with initiatives that will have a positive, lasting impact on the country. We remain committed to proactively aligning initiatives spearheaded by our leadership which aim to benefit the Kingdom and its people.”

The NBB has committed to contributing BHD 2.5 million in the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to stop the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, while simultaneously limiting the economic impact of this unprecedented crisis.
