Tamkeen to continue paying 50% of the salaries of impacted organizations' insured private sector's employees

Feb 3, 2021

The Bahrain Cabinet has taken a series of important decisions in its most recent meeting that includes further relief to the Kingdom's private sector employees. Several memorandums were evaluated and approved during the meeting.

Among those were the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and Fiscal Balance's decision to further extend the government's COVID-focused economic stimulus package.

Tamkeen took the center stage in these initiatives by announcing that it will continue to pay 50% of the salaries of all insured Bahrainis currently employed in the private sector. Any private-sector organization that has been forced to suspend its operations due to the COVID-19 crisis is eligible for these benefits.

The extension of the stimulus is a part of Tamkeen's flagship Business Continuity program. Furthermore, all these COVID-19 affected companies will also be exempted from paying various government fees such as municipality fees, tourism fees, etc. for an additional period of three months starting Jan 1, 2021.
