Womena has announced the final list of eight startups that will be participating in the second Cycle of the Womentum Accelerator.

The four-month-long experience-based project aims to help female-led technology startups in MENA to make it to the big leagues. It is one of the biggest and most high-profile initiatives of this kind in the region that focuses on empowering female entrepreneurs.

Womena teamed up with Standard Chartered to host cycle 2.0 of Womentum, during which all participating teams will visit Dubai and Berlin to acquire a first-hand experience of the dynamic startup culture in these two global innovation hubs for emerging entrepreneurs.  Alongside, there will also be a remote mentorship period to add more value to the curriculum. After an incredible first cohort and such strong community support, Womentum is back this year to accelerate another batch of women-led startups in the Middle East,” says Elissa Freiha, founder and managing director at Womena.

She added: “Our cohort represents every area of the MENA region, Tunisia and Egypt from North Africa, UAE from the Gulf and Lebanon from the Levant.”

It’s a huge achievement for all the teams to have made it into the second cohort as more than 200 teams applied to be a part of the program for the eight available slots. The eight shortlisted startups include:

Maj Solution (Lebanon), Fresh Source (Egypt), Chefaa (Egypt), Luxury Promise (UAE), Pas-sport (Egypt), Dimension 14 (UAE) MakerBrane (Lebanon), and Dabchy (Tunisia). The top-performing startups will receive $60K in cash prize from Standard Chartered and up to $100K from Womena.
